Champ in Regalia
I was asked to create a piece for the annual annual Urban Wanderers art exhibit at the Saint Louis University Museum of Art (SLUMA). The art is auctioned off to benefit Stray Rescue, an impressive organization that rescues animals from abuse and neglect in and around St. Louis. I’m happy to say “Champ in Regalia” sold!
Champ is a beautiful Akita who was rescued from terrible abuse. His story moved me deeply and I was honored to work on his portrait. As I researched the project I found out the pup is a Facebook sensation. The pic I chose is a good example of his alert and curious expression; I also liked the pop of color from his bandana.
“Champ in Regalia” was created on an iPad Pro using an Apple Pencil. The background was drawn in OmniSketch and Champ was drawn in Procreate. It took a long time to render his fur since I drew each hair individually.
